New York: Oxford University Press, 1937. Cloth. A somewhat worn and heavily traveled (but sound) copy, with the front panel of the dust jacket laid in. First edition, preceding British publication. A very good association copy, with the early ownership inscription, in Caroline Gordon Tate's hand, of "Caroline & Allen Tate" on the free endsheet. The Ford/Gordon/Tate friendship was a highly significant one, Ford having mentored Gordon's work on her first novel while she served as his secretary in Paris. This is one of the purportedly "early" copies without the artist's name on the title- page. (Inventory #: WRCLIT57730)
