Recent quarter leather and marbled boards. Old staining to portions of lower margins of last several leaves in the index, not affecting text (some archival restoration along bottom edges of those leaves). A revision of the 1808 Louisiana territorial laws, made by order of the Louisiana Supreme Court, and compiled by Justice Pierre Derbigny and attorneys Edward Livingston and Louis Moreau-Lislet. Julius Marke, editor of "A Catalogue of the Law Collection at New York University," [NY: 1953], p. 72 notes: "Thirteen years after Louisiana was admitted as a state, there was promulgated in 1825 the Civil Code of Louisiana- the first, the best, and the most famous of all American codes."
