Portrait frontispiece, regular title page, engraved title page with hand-colored vignette and 6 other full page hand-colored plates depicting guards' uniforms, 150pp. From the library of collector and historian Ernest J. Martin with his book plate. This work was intended to form part of a series recording the services of each Regiment in the British Army. The "Blues" served in the French Revolutionary Wars, the Peninsular War, and the Battle of Waterloo. Bound in contemporary 3/4 calf over marbled paper covered boards, nicely rebacked with original spine laid down, black morocco spine label gilt, compartments fully gilt decorated, some wear to corners. A very nice clean copy with only light foxing to the black and white plates. The color plates are fine and free of foxing.
