Lacking the dust jacket though this copy is inscribed by the author on the front endpaper, but the inscription above the author's reads: "To / Mark O. Prentiss / on his starting to circum / navigate the globe/ Earle Farwell", dated underneath "February 14, 1927." Directly below this is the author's inscription, "And countersigned, ten / years later, by the guilty / author of this book of / out of date laws." (signed) "Feliz Riesenberg, C.E." anddated underneath, "May 14, 1927." Pasted to the rear pastedown (with offsetting to the opposite blank) is a picture of the author (perhaps) cut from the dust jacket. Bound in flexible boards (black). Front cover lettering "Van Norstrand's Nautical Manuals." The spine is stamped in gold (bright) title, author, and publisher. Over 300 pages with ads at rear and an index and appendix. Opposite the title page states "Second Large Printing" (Inventory #: 14435)
