Bratislava: Odborné učilišťe štátnych pracovných záloh číslo 15, 1955. Large octavo (25 × 17 cm). Original embossed beige cloth; ca. 200 leaves of text to rectos. Title beginning to detach; else very good. Scarce and very appealing Slovak typographic specimen book, published by a state-run trade school in Bratislava, evidently after the February 1948 communist coup in Czechoslovakia. It includes an introductory essay on the history of typography, a guide for using the specimen for orders from the printer, and a table of contents. Among the included fonts are Script, Orchidea, Bernard medieval, Umbra, Ratio, Veneziana. Also included is a notably large section of "poster fonts" including large wooden type, as well as a section of ornamental frames and borders. The poster fonts include Roman, Don, Gulliver, Energos, Script, Kamenné, Reform grotesk, Blok, Kábel, and several others. The specimen leaves are attratively printed in black with green legends. Very uncommon, like must such publications, which were intended for print orders and discarded when no longer relevant (or disfigured by cutting out samples of type). Not located in KVK, OCLC. (Inventory #: P5260)
