by Neugebauer, Jan
Prague: Edice Sad, 1932. First Edition. Large octavo (25 × 19.6 cm). Original decorative wrappers; 99, [3] pp. Signed and inscribed by the author, possibly to the poet Adolf Černý (Jan Rokyta) on the dedication leaf. A very good, uncut and unopened copy; small crease to rear wrapper. First, and only, edition of this book of verse by Neugebauer, an apparently unknown Czech modernist poet (or, more likely, a pseudonym -- we were unable to find further information). "Edice Sad" ("Garden Series") was founded in 1919 as a series of bibliophile publications, but only produced some seventeen titles over its nearly three-decade run. Illustrated with a striking cover design, quite likely by Ladislav Grosman, who is known to have collaborated with the publisher for the "Sad" series and who designed the publisher's mark, which is featured on the half title. Surprisingly scarce: this book is not found in KVK or OCLC. Not at the Czech National Library. We only show a sole copy at the Prague Municipal Library. (Inventory #: P004077)
