First edition of this collection of fictionalized accounts of the Czech Legion soldiers' suffering during their Siberian anabasis, issued as a powerful indictment of the immorality of the powerful by Emanuel E. Lauseger (1890-1940). The author wrote numerous other works on the same topic. The illustration on the front wrapper, as well as the overall design throughout, is not attributed. Signed by Lauseger to half title verso. KVK and OCLC only show the copies at the Czech National Library and Nanterre; Toronto holds a copy of the 1934 second edition. (Inventory #: P6398)
