Single issue of this rare socialist almanac, published by the Czechoslovak Social-Democrat Party. In its present form, it appeared from 1894 to 1931; an earlier version was entitled "Kalendář dělnictva česko-slovanského" (1878-1881) and "Kalendář českoslovanského dělnictva v Rakousku" (Brno, 1891-1894). With full-page plates showing the ministers of the recently established republic, as well as its parliament. Aside from a calendar, the book contains many socialist-leaning works of prose and poetry, by Josef Hora, Helena Malířová, Gustav Opočenský, Ivan Olbracht, Emil Vachek, and many smaller illustrations. Especially valuable, however, is the eight-page listing of books and brochures published by this worker's publisher, which shows a wide range of leftist newspapers, journals, political literature, including translations, and belles lettres inspired by the Russian Revolution and other relevant events. Outside the Czech Republic, KVK and OCLC only show scattered early issues at Bundesarchiv, Austrian National Library, IISG, Chicago, and Urbana Champaign. (Inventory #: P6479)
