Following are two catalog quotations from the same dealer. Ernie Wesson was one of the best. They show the ever evolving learning progression of a bookman: MIDLAND NOTES 40-177 - The work of a Wheeling tailor. He tells us in the preface that the DESPERADO was based on the execution of three pirates, about 1800, during his youth in Philadelphia; and 46- 166 - By the "Bard of the Panhandle", crony of William Cooper Howells; considerable local color is to be found in the poems. Quoting from the "Essay" of 1831: "The time is not far distant when Western Virginia will either liberalize the present State Government, or separate itself entirely from the Old Dominion.". (Inventory #: 64715)
