Reid, the author of a famous work on the Mexican War, "The Scouting Expeditions of McCulloch's Texas Rangers," was a member of counsel and reported the work as author. On the title page is an ink presentation inscription by him to a Maryland congressman. Reid's father was the commander of the brig of war, Gen.
