Harry Love was an army courier and an express rider in Texas, Mexico, and New Mexico during and after the Mexican War, and was a popular and well-known figure. He arrived in California in 1850, during the Gold Rush and eventually joined the California Rangers. In 1853, the renowned bandit Murrieta met his fate at the hand of Love and his Rangers..
