Address delivered by the geographer and clergyman Jedidiah Morse, father of telegrapher Samuel. A decade later, after resigning from his ministry in 1819, the author was appointed agent of the Department of Indian Affairs, travelling through western New York to the Great Lakes region and concluding his travels in Wisconsin.
