Richly illustrated and uncommon. Walter Bowman Russell (1871-1963) was both author and illustrator of the book. Having left formal schooling at the age of 9 to enter the workforce, he later returned and self-financed his education. He was an American impressionist painter and follower of the New Thought Movement. A polymath, Russell was also an organist, music teacher, sculptor, lecturer, a builder, a motivational speaker and employee of IBM for 12 years in which he developed a "new concept of utilitarian business ethics". In many of his pursuits he was an award winner. A man of many talents and deep thinking, he and his second wife established the Walter Russell Foundation, and the University of Science and Philosophy at Swannanoa in Virginia. (Inventory #: 904)
