by Schneider, Dorothy.
A Centennial Project of the Lake Helen League for Better Living, 1988. [Quarto, paperbound (stiff, photo. illus. beige wrappers), [iii] + 66 pp. Fine. From Preface: This chronicle of Lake HElen and her people is woven from hundreds of newspaper clippings, conversations, interviews, books, scrapbooks, minutes of club meetings and city records. I am deeply indebted to the many wonderful people who have shared their memories and keepsakes, their talents and time with me. I have quoted liberally from Helen Parce DeLand’s “The Story of DeLand and Lake Helen,” and from feature articles that appeared over many years in the DeLand Sun-News, the Daytona Beach News-Journal, and the Orlando Sentinel. It has been a colorful and exciting century, let whoever will write about Lake Helen’s second century find it as vastly absorbing as this writer did of the first 100 years. A special bow to the Lake Helen League for Better Living whose encouragement and financial support made publication of this history possible. (Inventory #: 60874bd)
