Albert Jacquemart was a specialist in Chinese ceramics who published this wor as a major reference work in the field. He was a leading collector who established the typology still used in the west to describe Chinese ceramics from the time of the Qing Dynasty. This first edition covers ceramics from Egypt, China, Japan, Korea, India, and other locations throughout history, beautifully reproduced in plates. In addition to the twelve etched plates th are 200 wood engravings in the text. The paper covered boards are decorated with elaborate designs of flora and insects in black, blue, and red. A bit o rubbing to boards. Some slight toning to versos of plates and some light fox throughout. Overall a very good, pretty copy. (Inventory #: 40583)
