Engraved and printed title-pages with full-page engraved frontispiece. The book is collated complete, with one area of mis-pagination; pp.80, 85-88, 81-84, 89, 90. A total of 212 plates. Several pages show old paper repairs, last three pages more extensive repairs. Old light water-marking bottom of early pages. Peripheral toning of many pages. Small pieces missing from bottom free edges pp.206-207 without any loss of printing. The calligraphy and designs remain quite bright and sharp. This is the second edition in books form, the first being 1741. Initially issued in 52 parts, from 1733-1741. We have treated the leather on covers and spine with preservation "Cellugel" . A rebinding may be considered by the buyer, but the binding is stable at this point. A worn, well-used copy of this very important work in calligraphy and proper letter composition. Many pages with engraved elaborate head pieces. WorldCat lists 26 libraries world-wide having the book in their inventory. We have found a total of 9 copies of this edition sold at auction in the past 15 years, most dis-bound and missing several plates. Our copy is a bit bruised, BUT it is complete and quite usable.
