A call for donations to build a library to protect their collection, which at the time contained "rare and valuable historical materials, embracing 3000 volumes, 8000 pamphlets, magazines, and reviews, 150 volumes of newspapers, a large amount of valuable manuscripts, and 300 portraits.... these collections... contain the elements of the unwritten history of Presbyterianism in this county." Goes on to document the long list of state archives already destroyed by fires. Includes the act to incorporate the Presbyterian Historical Society. Though unsigned, the work is now attributed to Daniel V. Maclean, a pastor from Red Bank New Jersey who was fired as a financial agent to raise the funds. OCLC shows only 6 copies.
