Wraps
1916 · New York
by Baker & Bennett Co.
New York, 1916. Wraps. Very Good. Scarce, with no copies found on OCLC First Search. Brochure, 22.5 by 15 cm. Unpaginated, [12] pages, including cover. Issued as a marketing tool for a versatile set of unusual blocks, from which among other things, it was possible to create droll human, and animal, likenesses which bear a distinct resemblance to the creations associated with origami, except these have more mass. Yet the booklet isn't a straightforward sales pitch. The suggested figures are given names such as Many Deedle-Dum, Duncie Deedle-Dum, Reggie and the Peckoo, and beneath the illustrations of these figurines is extended clever doggeril verse intended to amuse and inspire the juvenile audience. There are 38 proposed figurines illustrated. Condition: light wear.
