RARE in either the 1st or 2nd edition. John Milne, (1850-1913), British geologist, engineer, and seismologist, was the developer of the first international network for seismological data, and created what may be considered the worlds first modern seismograph. He spent 20 years residing in Japan, taking part in field investigations studying Japan's volcanoes. By the end of that period he came to the conclusion that seismic activity was not related to volcanic activity, in contradiction to popular belief and common theory. . First Edition.
