Originally published in Leiden in 1584-5, "De Spieghel der Zeevaerd" is a famous sea-atlas of Western Europe and is among one of the first works of its kind published in terms of hydrographic information. Lucas Jansz Waghenaer was born around 1534 in Enkhuizen and worked as a pilot and collector of maritime dues before he devoted himself fully to his writing. (Inventory #: 34183)
