From the collection of prominent antique and military collector, William H. Guthman. Hardcover pastedown has ex-libris plate of George Dudley Seymour, who was a historian and leading figure in the development of New Haven, Conneticut. The cover endpaper of the original copy is affectionately inscriped and signed by Henry W. Erving to Mr. Seymour. Page 17 includes a section of bracketed marginalia in soft, red like-crayon and handwritten pencil. The writing, as described from the receipt of the collector Mr. Guthman had purchased the book, is stated as being from Henry Irving's own hand. The receipt is included. This is a fascinating and nice collectible of New England and American history.
