New York, NY.: A. S. Barnes & Co.. Very Good. 1856. Hardcover. The books in this 2 volume set are both hard-bound in blue cloth with blind stamping on the covers and gilt stamping on the spines. The bindings are both in rough condition, with scuffing/soiling, edge-wear, rubbing to the corners and spine-ends, and with heavy damp-staining to the outer edges of the covers, heaviest at the lower cover of Volume I. The hinges are cracked causing play in the covers, but with both text-blocks solid. The contents are bright and generally clean, but with some light scattered foxing and offsetting/toning, and with some faint damp-staining visible at the bottom outer corners of the pages at the rear of Volume I, and at the top and bottom edge of the pages at the rear of Volume II. Overall good for reading or reference, a possible candidate for a new binding. . (Inventory #: 76913)
