[solid copy, minor shelfwear, light age-toning and dust-soiling to edges of text block; jacket has some shallow chipping along top edge and at base of spine, tiny closed tear and associated creasing at bottom of front panel]. The author's second novel, about three U.S. Army veterans living together in New York City during the latter part of 1945, as each copies with the challenges of readjusting to civilian life. Miller, a then-closeted gay man who didn't come out until nearly a quarter-century later (via a 1971 article in The New York Times Magazine), wrote numerous works of both fiction and non-fiction; his best-known book was probably "Plain Speaking: An Oral Biography of Harry S. Truman." . (Inventory #: 26340)
