[light shelfwear to bottom edge, spine very slightly turned, discoloration to front endpaper from laid-in newspaper clipping; jacket is age-toned, lightly soiled, with about a 2.5" split at the bottom front hinge (with minor paper loss at the lower end of the split, minor paper loss at spine ends, one tiny closed tear and associated faint crease at bottom of front panel]. Three short novels dealing with Cain's specialities, "violent deeds and violent emotions." The most famous, of course, is "Double Indemnity," the basis for the film of the same name, for which this collection represented the first publication in book form.
