London: Published by the author, 1827. First edition. Quarter tan calf and marbled boards. Very good. 6 pages in text. Folio, 17" x 13". Lithographed pictorial title, and 19 plates, all on India paper and mounted, this copy with an additional lithographed ("Specimen Plate") bound in at rear, and featuring hand-colored design for a villa with plan. Wightwick was an accomplished architect who worked briefly for Sir John Soane after a brief tour of Italy. [COLVIN pp.888-890]. "Select Views," was exquisitely printed by the celebrated Charles Joseph Hullmandel, using one of his best lithographers (Baynes). ABBEY TRAVEL 182. Curiously, Abbey does not note the Specimen Plate herein. Owner blindstamp of front free endpaper of Derek Gair Gibson, wear with slight loss at front cover lower corner, some light marginal soiling, raised bands, maroon leather spine label printed in gilt.
