Varennes [1915-1995] is a French writer, novelist, and the author of books related to the province of Bourbannais. During World War II, he joined the Resistance; he is in charge of the coordination between the sections of the Committee of intellectuals of Bourbonnais. In 1959 he received the Sidoine-Apollinaire Prize and in 1990 the Allen Prize. It has been awarded four times by the French Academy. Thick 8vo., pictorial wraps; 708 pages. Illustrated.
