Collection of the author's poetry on childhood, political and allegorical, composed 1818 through 1860s; includes a powerful elegy on the Ottoman Massacre on the Island of Chio: "l'Enfant Grec" (composed in 1828 about the ravages of war in Greece, 1822; the 'Schio' tragedy was also immortalized in a painting by Delacroix, 1824).
The book was published the same year as 'Les Miserables'. (Inventory #: BB087)
