Five raised bands to each spine, tan panel and black panel with gold lettering to each spine. Several age spots to the tops of the spines. Panels and gilding of the backstrips generally clean and legible with only minor wear. Moderate shelf-wear to the marbled boards with rubbing to each volume. Leather corners and edges of the boards are also worn. Hinges and binding of each volume in good condition. One-inch square bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. Owner notes to front and rear free end paper of each volume. Slight shelf-wear to the bottom edge of each text block. Text of pages age-toned, otherwise generally clean and unmarked. Text of each volume in German. Volume 1 to 506pp, volume 2 to 589pp, volume 3 to 638pp, volume 4 to 678pp. Folding map facing page 562 of volume 3 present and intact with some foxing and age-tone spots.
