by [San Francisco], Earthquake Scene
This stereoview is of the northeastern part of San Francisco looking towards the Bay. On April 18, 1906 San Francisco was struck by an earthquake. This image shows the destruction of the streets by the earthquake. Also, we see objects scattered along the street, these are makeshift fireplaces protected by widescreens that were used by people to cook since after the fire people were not allowed to light either gas or kerosene indoors.
