1880 · New York, N.Y.
by Taylor, J. Monroe
New York, N.Y.: J. Monroe Taylor Chemical Works, 1880. Very Good. [4] pages. 10 1/8 x 6 1/4 inches (folded dimensions). A brochure printed on pink paper in black ink. Creased for mailing, addressed to a Benjamin Alexaander, "gen. Store", Linneus Maine. With Benjamin Franklin stamp hand-cancelled with oval New York CR mark. Several nice woodcuts. A brochure detailing prices for cooking materials - cream tartar, washing soda, scrubbing lye, Gold medal soda, cream yeast, etc. Date of circa 1880s derived from the time period philatelic dealers note for the New York oval CR handstamp cancellation. Further research might narrow the date as the descriptions in the brochure note that just previous to this Taylor's partner, "Herrick Allen" was involved, which apparently is no longer the case.
