Bound in colour-printed pictorial card covers, pages stapled. Lower cover unfolds to form the base a large full-colour pop up of a jungle filled with animals including a cut-out monkey swinging from a vine. A very good copy with occasional creases but in otherwise very good, with the separate cut-out figures of Moko and Koko both present in mylar sleeve. § An example of the work of Czech artist Vojt ch Kuba ta. Figures of Moko and Koko are provided so that the child can follow along with the story in the remarkably elaborate pop-up jungle. It was printed in Czechoslovakia, designed for export to the West. “Given Eastern Bloc isolation, the international popularity of Kuba ta’s books is remarkable. Bancroft, owned by a Czech refugee from the Nazis, was the first Western publisher to market Kuba ta’s books, which were eventually translated into thirty-seven languages”.
