___DESCRIPTION: A prize binding in full red leather from Marlborough College, spine decorated in gilt, black leather spine label with guilt lettering, board edged decorated in gilt, all edges marbled, blind debossed inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, presentation inscription on the flyleaf dated July 1897, tissue-guarded frontispiece of "Sir Colin Campbell afterwards Lord Clyde", three additional plates and three battle plans; duodecimo size (7 3/4" by 5 1/2"), pagination: [i-v] vi-xvi,  2-421 [printer's statement].
___CONDITION: A solid, very good copy, the leather binding smooth (not powdering) and with only minor overall wear, a strong square text block with the hinges just starting but both boards still securely attached, with the only prior owner markings being the prize inscription (although faint evidence of prior pencilled markings on the fly, likely from a prior bookseller).
