New York: The Dial Press. Near Fine in Very Good dj. 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. [nice clean book, just a touch of wear at spine ends and a very mild bump to the upper front corner; jacket lightly scuffed, a little worn along the right edge of the front panel, one short closed tear at top of front panel, chipped at top of spine and split about 3 inches down at the front hinge, with a short horizontal extension of the split crossing the spine and another vertical split of about one inch connected to that]. The author's second novel, narrated by his protagonist, "Hughes" (a writer, of course), who is "totally obsessed by love in all its variations," and presents his journal to us, the readers, to tell us all about it. ("It" being "the universal truth of sex.") (The author, by the way, should not be confused with Eddie Mannix, notorious right-hand man and fixer for M-G-M mogul Louis B. Mayer -- whose real name was Edgar, anyway, and who died the year before this book was published.) . (Inventory #: 26750)
