New York/Los Angeles: Samuel French. Very Good+. (c.1934, 1927). French's Standard Library Edition. Softcover. [nice clean copy with light external wear, small white paint spot on lower spine, very slight bump to upper right corner]. (four B&W photographs, stage diagram) Romantic farce involving a young lady "who knows very little about men" and a deceptive impersonation perpetrated with "the best intentions possible" in order to derail her courtship by an irresponsible young man with three maiden aunts. Although this edition was issued in 1934, the play itself (under the "Murray Hill" title, even though it had been copyrighted by the playwright under the title "Tweedie Gets Married") had been presented on Broadway in September-October 1927, running for just 28 performances. Rather oddly, even though Leslie Howard was the play's author and also one of its stars, he is not depicted in any of the four photographs that illustrate the text. . (Inventory #: 26816)
