N.p.: N.p., 1948. Vintage double-weight borderless photograph from the set of the 1948 film, showing actress Vivien Leigh in conversation with costume designer Cecil Beaton. With two printed mimeo snipes on the verso, along with a PIX agency stamp crediting photographer Carl Perutz. Based on the 1877 novel, wherein a young woman's loveless marriage leads her to begin an affair with a dashing Czarist officer.
Leigh and Beaton met in 1941, becoming close friends for several years. Due to Leigh's declining mental health and Beaton's jealousy over her success, however, their friendship became strained, culminating in a dramatic falling-out on the set of "Anna Karenina" which permanently estranged the pair.
Set in Russia.
