Elephant folio portfolio 15 by 25 inches containing 11 leaves on card with mounted specimens and instructions for creating shibori, or Japanese tie-dyeing. The portfolio is covered in red cloth, gilt title, orange ties, and with the title on a paper paste-on. There is an introduction on the front pastedown from a professor at Otsuma Women's University explaining the importance of preserving the techniques shown on the portfolio leaves. Each leaf show tie-dies samples followed by samples on white cloth using black thread to show how the final result was obtained. Text is in Japanese. A fine copy.
