New York: Daniel Adee, 1850. Uniform American Edition. 16 8vo. parts; in the publisher's yellow printed wrappers, and being in various states of disrepair. Most volumes have the name of William Swoope, Buckingham Courthouse, at the top of the front panel. Swoope was a physician and a farmer in Buckingham County; he studied medicine at The University of Virginia. There is a letter in the Collections of the The University from Swoope to one John T. Holman, probably written in 1837, in which he writes that he is considering returning to The University to take a medical diploma, mentioning that he has been attended in an illness by Dr. Griffith (he was to attend Dr. Griffith's lectures a year or two later). . ~The Parts included in this offering are: (1) Part the First, with a spine which has perished; (2) Part the Third, with spine mostly intact; (3) Part the Fourth,; (4) Part the Fifth, with loss to the rear panel and the last 2 pages; (5) Part the Seventh; (6) Part the Eighth, (7) Part the Ninth, (8) Part the Tenth; (9) Part the Eleventh, lacking a leaf of the Index; (10) Part the Fourteenth; (11) Part the Fifteenth; (12) Part the Sixteen, lacking the wrappers; (13) Part the Eighteenth, wrappers detached; (14) Part the Twentieth, rear wrapper detached; (15) Part the Twenty-first, front wrapper torn in half, rear wrapper detached; (16) Part the Twenty-Second.~.
