Berkeley. The Maple Tree Press. 1996. Gilt titled spiral bound cloth covered boards with pictorial cover plates. High quality viewing lenses to pocket at rear of each volume. Publisher's pictorial slipcase. Folio. First Edition. Illustrated as a photographic atlas of 45 different surgical operations described and illustrated using 1370 pairs of full colour stereoscopic photographs. An innovative work of staggering proportions, this work was designed to allow doctors and medical students to visualize the surgical field with the reality that no two dimensional drawings or photogrphs could provide. The 3d photographs are accompanied by a step by step procedural by Victor Richards, Chief of Surgery at Stanford Hospital and Children's Hospital in San Francisco. Although published relatively recently, this set is out of print and extremely rare. An As-New Copy in like slipcase.Featured Misc. (Inventory #: 8155)
