1935 · [San Francisco]
Nash worked for Stanley-Taylor Co. until 1901 and Tomoye Press from 1903 to 1911, before founding his own firm in 1916, which remained in business until 1938. Although apparently he printed quite a few pieces of ephemera, most of them are not included in the bibliography (O'Day).
This piece was printed, as stated on the last page, as a souvenir of a bridge tournament held on September 28, 1935, which served as a fund-raiser for a scholarship in the name of John Henry Nash at San Francisco State College (today San Francisco State University). The tournament was held at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel and the list of patrons included Governor and Mrs. Frank Merriam, Dr. and Mrs. Robert G. Sproul, Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. O'Day, Mr. and Mrs. Milton S. Ray, Mr. Albert Bender, Mr. F[lodden] W. Heron, and many more; thus constituting an interesting piece of Bay Area history.

___CITATION: Not listed in O'Day; our search of OCLC locates three copies of this 1935 printing with institutions and seems to indicate Nash may have also printed the same piece earlier, as one institution reports a 1930 printing and a second institution lists a date of 1933.
