Signed by the actor Paul Rogers who played one of the Knights sent to assassinate Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1162 to 1170, in the film version of T.S. Eliot’s play Murder in the Cathedral. Signed twice by Rogers - on the title page and on his portrait on page 130. Rogers has also appeared in Beau Brummel, Our Man in Havana, Billy Budd, Stolen Hours, The Shoes of the Fisherman, The Looking Glass War, etc. With prefaces by T.S. Eliot and George Hoellering. Illustrated throughout with 6 color plates, 48 pages of monochrome illustrations of stills from the film, and 69 line drawings. Includes the complete screenplay for the film, with a few minor cuts and alterations, along with new scenes for the film written by T.S. Eliot exclusively for this publication. Near fine bright copy with just a touch of edge wear in a slightly used dust jacket with some shallow chipping along the top of the spine and front panel, a 1/2” piece near the bottom of the spine, and some small tears and chips. The film was directed by George Hoellering, and starred John Groser as Thomas Becket, Alexander Gauge as Henry II, and, Leo McKern (of television’s "Rumpole of the Bailey" fame) as a Knight in one of his earliest film roles.
