Contemporary ink ownership inscription to front pastedown, partially scraped away. Tight, straight, and sound, rubbed, spine dulled, with losses at head and tail, short split to lower joint and small punctures to cloth over upper joint, page edges browned, scattered foxing, maps browned but plates bright, one map creased with short tear at joint: Good or better.
An account of the Mexican-American War, with portraits of generals and detailed maps of battles, condemning the United States for territorial aggression (the text begins: "To contemplate the state of degradation and ruin to which the mournful war with the United States has reduced the Republic, is painful" (1)).
