Light soiling to exterior, moderate edgewear, spine ends abraded, a few chips to wrappers, which are just beginning to detach at foot. Moderate toning to interior, early marks to margins in a few places, struck through and mostly illegible presentation inscription by powers. $450. * First edition. A lawyer and politician from Auburn, Powers was the warden of Auburn State Prison from 1820 to 1823 and the inspector of that prison from 1830 until his death.
