Finely engraved map of Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland on the northwest tip of Lake Zurich. The Topographical Atlas of Switzerland, unofficially also called Siegfriedatlas or Siegfriedkarte, is an official map of Switzerland, (with embossed stamp in lower right corner), the publication of which was started by the Federal Topographical Bureau under Hermann Siegfried and lasted from 1870 to 1926. Hermann Siegfried (1819 - 1879 in Bern) was a Swiss topographer, cartographer and chief of staff of the Swiss Army with the rank of colonel. The 1:25,000 sheets of the topographic atlas were reproduced as copperplate engravings in three colors (black, brown, and blue).
