first edition
[1928] · New York
by FREEMAN, R. AUSTIN.
New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, [1928]. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Clean, near fine book in a very good to near fine dust jacket which has a few tears, including a two-inch closed tear at bottom of the front panel, but is overall bright and crisp. A handful of neat internal tape repairs. This copy retains the rare wraparound band (with a short tear) which bears two blurbs on the front panel from S.S. Van Dine and Christopher Morley praising the Thorndyke mysteries. Particularly striking artwork by Juan Oliver.
