Tempe AZ; (1963): Aztec Press. First Edition. Octavo. 174 pages, bibliography, index, notes, illustrated by Larry Toschik. Poston (1825-1902) not only was involved in silver mining but lobbied for President Lincoln for the creation of Arizona Territory. In 1863 President Lincoln appointed him Superintendent of Indian affairs for the new territory and he became the first territorial delegate to Congress. An important firsthand account originally published in 1894 issues of Overland Monthly. Included are two letters from the author's great grandnephew to Bonita Porter, a Phoenix bookseller in the late 20th century pertaining to books he wishes to have. A fine copy bound in red cloth lettered and decorated in gilt, spine lettering gilt, red endpapers, in a fine unclipped pictorial dust jacket.
