New York: The Athenaeum Society. Very Good+. (c.1892). Unstated edition. Hardcover. (full bound in light blue buckram, top edge gilt, no dust jacket) [a nice clean book, minor shelfwear only, slight fading to spine, top corner of front endpaper cut away, former owner's name plus date & place of purchase written at top corner of second front endpaper; NOTE that some pages are unopened along the fore-edge]. (The Novels of Jane Austen, Volume VI) Series (B&W frontispiece) A single volume from a multi-volume set of Austen's works, this reprints her short novels "Lady Susan" (possibly written as early as 1794 but first published in 1871) and "The Watsons" (a partial/unfinished novel, written circa 1803/4, but also first published in 1871) -- which together take up only about one-third of this volume -- together with "A Memoir of Jane Austen" (about 180 pages), written by a nephew, James Edward Austen-Leigh (although not named here), and a selection of the author's letters, constituting roughly the second half of this 333-page book. This would appear to be a stray volume from a later, cheaper reprint edition of the set of Austen's works issued by Roberts Brothers in 1892, apparently in both a 10-volume and a 12-volume edition (the copyright page states simply: "Copyright, 1892, by Roberts Brothers"). .
