INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the front endpaper; the inscription is to fellow author and sometime screenwriter Ted (Theodore) Strauss, The first novel by Mitgang, who went on to a long career as a journalist, editor and sometime TV documentary producer. It's about a World War II veteran who has a business-related opportunity to return to Sicily, the site of his wartime service, where he also pursues a personal mission to find the girl he had fallen in love with during the war.
