This book is hard-bound in brown cloth with black stamping on the upper cover and spine, in a dust jacket with light scuffing, foxing, and wear/chipping to the edges. The covers show light rubbing to the corners and spine-ends. The binding is solid. The contents are bright and generally clean with illustrations, but also with some toning/foxing to the center margin at the title-page. The dust jacket is the "Second State" DJ with Steinbeck facing to the right on the lower panel. - From the American First Editions collection of Donald C. Scriven (1948-2019).
