Illustrated, throughout with wood engravings variously signed by "Pease," and William Howland. Evident FIRST EDITION. There was a second printing, also undated, but bearing the publisher's address, "123 & 125 William Street", which Kiggins & Kellogg moved to circa 1855. Issued as part of a series of twelve juvenile Temperance tracts, with titles including, "The Young Sailor" and "The Sagacity of the Horse". Fine in publisher's gray wrappers, titled and illustrated in black. [OCLC locates five copies of this issue].
