Willy (Wilhemina) Scholte was one of very few women working at the Stempelplaats workshop in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She became involved in the avant-garde mail art happening there, and was inspired by artists like Ulises Carrion and Aart van Barneveld.
These 55 cards represent Scholte's Mail Art contacts. Each card lists a name and address, and in most cases, what was sent to them. The archive provides wonderful insight into the international Mail Art network, with contacts in Great Britain, Mexico, Italy, the United States, Brazil, Germany, Poland, and other locales. Some of the artists and contacts included are Robin Crozier, César Espinoza, Pier van Dijk, David Cole, Paulo Bruscky, Bart Boumans, Artur Dudek, Klaus Groh, Gerry Leewes, Bern Olbirch, Pawel Petasz, Guy Schraenen, Shozo Shimamoto, and others.
